Terms of service

Last updated: August 15, 2026

Plain English, no lawyer voice. This is what you're agreeing to when you hire me to build something and put it on a monthly plan. If a line here surprises you, that's my fault — text me and I'll explain it.

What you're buying

Two things, quoted separately before anything starts. First, a one-time build fee to design and build your site or system — the number depends on scope and I give it to you in writing before any work begins. Second, a monthly plan that keeps it online: hosting, the security certificate, backups, monitoring, and the content changes included in your tier. You approve both numbers before I start.

The monthly plan renews on its own

Your plan bills monthly to the card on file and renews automatically every month until you cancel. The price is the one you agreed to at signup, and it stays there — if I ever change plan pricing, your rate holds for at least 60 days after I tell you, and you can cancel before it takes effect. Payment is handled by Stripe; I never see or store your card number.

Cancelling — any month, no phone call

Text me, email me, or cancel yourself from the Stripe billing portal link I give you. There's no contract, no minimum term, and no cancellation fee. Your plan runs through the end of the month you've already paid for, and you are not charged again. I won't make you sit through a retention pitch.

You own your code and your content

The code I write for your project is yours, along with your content, your images, and your domain. That's true from launch, not just at the end — you get access to the repository when the site goes live. I keep the right to describe the work publicly and show screenshots of the public parts of your site as an example of what I build, unless you ask me not to. Anything private — customer data, invoices, internal dashboards — stays private.

If you leave, the site has to move

The monthly plan includes the hosting your site runs on, so when the plan ends the site needs a new home. You have 30 days from your cancellation to move it. You can take the code and hand it to anyone you like, or I'll do the whole move for a one-time $250 fee: code, database, domain, and logins set up in accounts under your own name, plus a walkthrough. After 30 days with no plan and no move, I may take the site offline — I'll warn you before that happens, and your code and a copy of your data stay available to you either way.

What the plan doesn't cover

Content changes mean edits to what's already there — text, photos, prices, hours, promos, and on the higher tiers new pages. A whole new system, a redesign, a store where there wasn't one, or an integration with software you just bought is new work, and I'll quote it separately before doing it. Third-party costs that are genuinely yours — your domain registration, paid software you asked for, payment processing fees — are billed at cost or paid by you directly, and I'll tell you before any of them start.

What I need from you

Content — your photos, your services, your prices, the words you want. The build clock starts when that lands, not when you pay, and a project that stalls waiting on content just takes longer. You're also responsible for the content being yours to use: don't send me photos or text you don't have the rights to. If a project goes quiet for more than 90 days I may close it out, and restarting it means requoting the remaining work.

Refunds and honest limits

The build fee covers work I actually do, so it isn't refundable once the build starts — but if I haven't started yet, you get all of it back, no argument. Monthly plan payments aren't prorated on cancellation; you keep the month you paid for. I do my genuine best to keep every site online and backed up, but I'm one person and I don't control the internet — I can't promise perfect uptime, and I'm not responsible for losses caused by outages, hacks, or problems at hosting providers or other services. What I do promise is that I'll tell you the truth about what happened and fix it as fast as I can.

Changes to these terms

If I update these terms in a way that actually affects you, I'll tell you by text or email before it takes effect. Continuing your plan after that means you're okay with the change; cancelling before it takes effect means you're not, and that's fine. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.

Questions

Any of this unclear? Email calpules1@icloud.com or text 818-294-4596 and ask me directly — I'd rather answer it now than have you find out later. I answer these myself, usually the same day.
